CAMPERSHIPS Nothing personifies summer in a child's life better than summer camp.

For over 35 years, Easter Seals has provided financial assistance to children and adults with disabilities so they can attend summer camp.  Camperships are financial awards usually ranging from $50 to $500 that allow children or adults with special needs to attend one week at a summer camp of their choice.  Awards are based on financial need.

The camping experience provides a multitude of positive rewards for campers as well as their families.  Camp allows children and adults with disabilities to spend time away from their family while with others who have similar abilities, interests, and experiences.  Camp also provides a week of respite for parents, siblings, and/or caregivers.

Applications are accepted through April 10 each year.  Campership awards are announced during the first week of May.  Please call your local Easter Seals Northern Ohio office at 1.888.325.8532 if you would like more information about the program or if you are interested in receiving an application.

SUMMER DAY CAMP

CAMP CAN
Camp CAN is a day camp for children and young adults ages 6 - 22 with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).  The camp is held for one week, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at:

The camp is directed by a special education teacher with a nurse on duty each day during camp hours.  Camp activities include nature walks, crafts, games, fishing and swimming.  Applications are accepted through June 1.  All new campers and parents are expected to meet with camp staff prior to June 1.  Cost is $75 for the week.  For more information, call Easter Seals at 1.800.696.5601.

LITTLE STEPS TO SUCCESS
"Little Steps to Success" is a six week summer program designed to provide Ashtabula area children with disabilities, ages 3 to 6 years, with the opportunity to maintain skills acquired during the previous school year and to improve skills through active play and therapy.  Program activities includes circle time, hands-on activities for the development of fine and gross motor skills, and free play.  Additional time for physical, occupational and speech therapy is allocated to meet each child's individual needs.  For more information, please contact Easter Seals Northern Ohio at 1.888.325.8532.

ALLIANCE SUMMER DAY CAMP
This special camp is designed to assist children with disabilities from Alliance.  The camp operates for six weeks and services approximately 60 children each summer.  Day Camp activities include field trips, swimming, crafts and outdoor activities.  For more information, please contact Easter Seals Northern Ohio at 1.888.325.8532.

 ADAPTIVE AQUATICS PROGRAM                                   

Making a splash in the community

For over 25 years, Easter Seals' Adaptive Aquatics Program has helped children and adults with disabilities stay active year-round.  The program allows participants the opportunity to experience the sensation of being in the water, teaches basic elements of water safety, and is an outlet for socialization and recreation.
